392 Paragraph for Leo [for violin and piano] 1924
Lento legato
 D 1924 (CD 287)
I This tide appears in CD with only the word "violin" written in the
adjacent column; but in all the many instances where this has hap-
pened and the music survives, the violin is accompanied by piano.
F Probably in the pair of joint recitals given by Leo Linder and HC
at Monterey, CA, on 12 May 1925 and San Francisco on 15 May
M Only one surviving Paragraph fits this tide: a curious pencil draft that
mentions neither Leo in its tide nor violin in its caption. It is on 3
staves, 2 with treble clef and 1 with bass. In ml-10 the top part can
be played only by a pianist, whereas the middle staff has a simple,
legato, slow-waltz melody that lies on the violin's G string. Suddenly,
at mil, the upper staves swap parts and the 1-line melody completes
aperfect cadence on the top staff. A hasty and crooked but unmistak-
able double bar closes the piece after 16m.
393 Passage [for violin and piano]
Allegro marcato
 D 1924 (CD 288)
F By HC and Leo Linder at their recital in Monterey, 12 May 1925
M Pencil draft complete in 17m on p21, last of the cluster occupied
primarily by no. 397
C Although inserted in no. 397 as mvt 4, this piece seems to have been
written separately.
394Piece in 6 Sharps [for violin and piano]
D 1924 (CD 292). Apart from its citation in CD, this Piece can be iden-
tified as the one first seen on the Leo Linder-HC program at Monterey,
CA, 12 May 1925, and again when that program was repeated at
the Denny Studio, San Francisco, 15 May 1925.
395 The Snows of Fuji-Yama [for piano]
Andante delicato
D 1924 (CD 295). HC to Blanche Walton, 1 Aug [1924]: "Have writ-
ten another piano piece. The Snows of Fujiyama." "Dedicated to Julia
D. Brown" on both ink MSS.
