424A Burlesque of Billboards [for piano]
 D 20 Nov 1926. This tide, on an HC recital program of this date in Los
Angeles, may (or may not) have been used as a replacement for Adver-
tisement (no. 213/4), which does burlesque billboard advertising.
425 Carl's Birthday [for voice and piano]
 D Mar [1926?] HC and Carl Ruggles shared the same birth date, 11
March. The text refers to a 35th birthday, but Ruggles was bom in
1876 and reached 35 in 1911, when HC was only 14 and had never
met the older man. HC may jokingly have cut 15 off the round
number of 50 which Ruggles attained on 11 Mar 1926. (This cataloger
did exacdy that to HC: congratulated him on being 50 in 1962 on
his 65th birthday.) Also, 1926 is likely in view of the fact that HC
drafted his "song" on the blank 4th page of the pencil MS of his Fairy
