poet Takeshi Kanno, who heard HC play in Carmel and asked him
to write music for a production at the Forest Theater. HC prepared
the music in about a week at home in Menio Park and took it to
Carmel on 2 Aug 1913.
F HC himself played the music at the production on 16 Aug 1913.
M One reason HC could provide the music so quickly was that he used
17 pieces he had already composed; but he also wrote 10 new bits.
The music in these two categories can be identified from an index
HC put inside the front cover of his Creation Dawn portfolio, and
by page numbers for the complete score on the manuscripts of in-
dividual pieces that were removed from the portfolio.
