 D HC to Olive Cowell, 9 Jul 1954: ". . . finished a substantial new work,
*Set of Four,' for harpsichord, flute, oboe, and cello." Such a work
was requested by the harpsichordist Sylvia Marlowe, who apparently
accepted the Quartet but never performed it. In 1962, asked for a
chamber work with harp by Mrs. Fabien Sevitzky, HC adapted this
Quartet (see no. 802a).

York
