303 Double Fugue in C minor [for piano]
[No tempo mark]
 D [28 Feb?] 1920 (CD 241). HC's letter to Ellen R. Veblen, 28 Feb 1920,
mentions that he has "just finished a double fugue." This is the only
such work he is known to have composed. Since it is written out in
his exercise book following the 3 preceding entries, there is a fair
assumption that they were finished before the double fugue.

305a Vestiges [arranged for orchestra]
Lento
 D 1922 (CD 263). Begun as a piano piece in 1914 or 1915, according
to HC's note laid in. Vestiges was completed as such by Jul 1920. With
some tutelage from Carl Ruggles, HC worked at scoring it and his
symphony (no. 245). Early in 1922 he was at last able to exclaim?
right on his holograph full score?"One work actually scored!"

 F HC's record merely places the 1st performance at the New School
under Wallingford Riegger sometime in 1932. The New School ar-
chives show no trace of it on a regular concert there, but they do record
that Riegger began a series of weekly evening lectures on contemporary
music there on 6 Oct 1932, and that the lectures were given in the
