the music of sleep. It is conceived as the opposite of a lullaby, since
the music grows stronger as sleep progresses. In the present work, the
music starts softly; as sleep becomes sounder, the music grows cor-
respondingly in intensity. At the end, the music dies away as the
sleeper wakes."
