 I The Los Angeles Times (27 Jul 1930, sec3, pl2, col2) announced that
"Mr. Cowell will be at the piano" and that he would be assisted by
an organist and "the accompanist." Neither the printed program nor
the reviews, however, mention any accompaniment to HC's accom-
paniment. One reviewer (T. V. Cator, Carmel Pine Cone 16:35 [29
Aug 1930], p6) in fact said the piano was inadequate, that orchestral
color and weight were needed.
F At Halcyon (exact location not specified in program or reviews seen),
7Aug 1930, by a group assembled by HC; the role of Oma, John
Varian's old part, was sung by Thomas Glynn.
